My name is Will and I love needlepoint. Maybe a little too much. I bought everything needlepoint. I had a needlepoint belt, keychain, flask, sunglass straps, and wallet. I loved all of these items for the way they looked, their hand-made quality, and the conversations they started. So, when I was looking for a new phone case after my old one fell apart, I wanted to add to my needlepoint collection. After looking all over the internet, I couldn't find a needlepoint iPhone case.
While I was searching for a needlepoint iPhone case, I noticed a lot of needlepoint brands carry the same belts, flasks, and keychains. They only slightly alter the designs. I wanted to make something nobody else was making.
Without finding anything, I decided I would start a needlepoint brand and the first product would be an iPhone needlepoint phone case. I started messaging leather phone case suppliers in China on Alibaba. Many suppliers initially agreed to make them, but backed out after learning about the needlepoint specifications. After messaging 600+ suppliers, I found one willing to create the phone case mold. I still had to figure out the needlepoint on my own. I decided to order from a Vietnamese supplier. After getting the first sample back, I quickly realized it was pretty bad. The leather was fake plastic, the needlepoint quickly faded, and even the buttons fell out. So, I switched needlepoint suppliers from Vietnam to a Haiti B-Corp partner, ordered new antique brass buttons, and 1000 sq ft of Chicago Horween leather. The leather from the new samples was soft, the needlepoint was durable, and the buttons didn't fall out. So, I ordered 200 units.
That brings me to today as the needlepoint is en route to China from Haiti for assembly. As soon as the cases ship from China to America, I'll open up for pre-orders and notify everyone via email and Instagram. Sign up at beau-point.com to get first access when pre-orders go live.
